Boundaries for Black Women

IT’S THE ANSWER TO QUESTIONS I GET ASKED ABOUT THE MOST…

  • How do I not get drawn into media circus and political debate?

  • How do I hold folks, especially white folks, accountable for harmful behaviours?

  • How do I stay grounded?

  • How do I take sabbaticals when we’ve been conditioned to overwork?

  • How do I maintain my sanity?

  • How do I maintain autonomy over my words, ideas and body?

  • How do I stay well when doing work that is so often abusive to Black women?

  • How do I say ‘NO’ as a whole sentence?

The answer?

BOUNDARIES

Historically - Black women - specifically Black women with lineage lost to slavery, have had no autonomy over their words, ideas or even their bodies. For too long Black women have been conditioned to overwork and are often extracted from. To be all things to all people from family to work colleagues - folks have been conditioned to see us as everyone’s mamie, to being the go to strong person, the caretaker for others at the expense of self. It’s enough.

Boundaries are detrimental in maintaining our mental health and for building autonomy and healthier relationships with others and first and foremost, yourself. I learned the hard way, so you don’t have to.

Join me for an exclusive initial in-person Luncheon, in Hammersmith London. 12:45pm - Saturday 23rd November - just 25 spaces available.

This is not a workshop - but it is a chance to celebrate yourself, ask questions, connect, share, be witnessed, and most importantly be poured into and be nourished. Food and drinks will be provided as well as something from my heart to yours.

This is an offering for Black women in all our glorious forms.
