‘Follow your passion. It will lead to your purpose. O Winfrey’
“I adore helping people, am passionate about equality, have far too many shoes and strongly dislike marmite.”
I am a creative through and through and started my career as a professional actress and singer in theatre and had the pleasure of performing to audiences of over 10,000 at Wembley Arena. This continues to serve me well with my joy for writing, public speaking and storytelling. It was after an injury that I re-trained as a holistic therapist, which fuelled my passion for positive wellbeing and a desire to contribute.
I started my professional training in mental health and disability in 2010 and have a therapeutic background in counselling skills and over 9 years extensive experience working in mental wellbeing and have worked with notable organisations including MIND charity.
I am a certified NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) Life Coach, accredited by the Professional Guild of NLP, have a background in counselling skills, am a Mindfulness teacher (Stanton Psychology) and enjoy being invited as a regular mentor at Women of the World (WOW) Festival and works with an exclusive amount of private clients to help them discover their purpose and step into a life with more joy.
It was after my own wedding engagement in 2012, that I re-discovered a love for writing and after discovering a huge gap in the market with race representation in bridal beauty, I decided to be the change I wanted to see in a very homogenous UK wedding industry and founded multi-award-winning wedding blog; Nu Bride. Nu Bride is dedicated to adding race equality and inclusive diversity into the wedding industry. Nu Bride has grown to be the leading platform and beacon for inclusive diversity and has won several awards and is responsible for catapulting my status as a diversity campaigner.
I was recently nominated in the 2018 National Diversity Awards as a Positive Role Model for the work I have been doing to bring race equality into the wedding industry and beyond. I adore public speaking and am described as an inspirational speaker and regularly appear in mainstream media, including the BBC and Sky News to provide expert commentary on wedding and diversity matters.
Using my background as an actress, experience in counselling skills, mental health and disability, I use the power of storytelling, with humility and humour to teach individuals and brands about the power of embracing diversity and how to confront bias and prejudice to improve business and more-so, be the change they want to see in the world.
“Real change starts from within. I work with individuals and organisations holistically and authentically to encourage and inspire positive change. It is a pleasure and a privilege to be able to be in a position to inspire and to help others”
