My name is Nova. Delighted to meet you.
A snippet about me
Passionate about creativity, equality and mental wellbeing.
I am a writer, life and wellbeing practitioner and diversity campaigner.
I adore helping people. Have far too many shoes. Strongly dislike marmite. Love singing, used to sing with Beverley Knight.
Proudly representing ‘team-married’ and on my journey through this funny thing called life.
I love to create and I love variety. When I am not engulfing myself in work, I am usually spending time with my husband, eating great Caribbean or Japanese food, socialising in posh places, gardening, or enjoying delicious live music.
I started my career as a professional actress and singer in theatre and had the pleasure of performing to audiences of over 10,000 at Wembley Arena. This continues to serve me well with my joy for public speaking. It was after an injury I re-trained as a holistic therapist in 2006, which fuelled my passion for positive wellbeing and my desire to contribute.
I started my professional training in mental health in 2010 and have a therapeutic background in counselling skills and over 8 years extensive experience working in mental wellbeing notably with organisations such as MIND charity.
I qualified as a NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) Life Coach, accredited by the Professional Guild of NLP in 2012 and discovered the beauty of Mindfulness with Stanton Psychology in 2013.
Simultaneously, it was after my own engagement in 2012, that I re-discovered my love for writing. I love writing to share stories, to advocate change and encourage debate.
After discovering a huge gap in the market with race representation in bridal beauty, this led to becoming founder and editor of multi-award-winning wedding blog; Nu Bride. Nu Bride is dedicated to adding inclusive diversity into the UK mainstream wedding industry, by encouraging media and businesses to expand their reach and think about the way they portray bridal beauty. Nu Bride has grown to be a leading platform and beacon for inclusive diversity and as a result, I am approached by many well-known brands to offer consultancy, produce editorial shoots and events with inclusive diversity at its core.
I am incredibly passionate about helping people reach their full potential. As such, I am invited as a regular mentor at The Women of The World Festival (WOW) for International Women’s Day.
I work with individuals and organisations holistically and authentically to encourage and inspire positive change.
It is a pleasure and a privilege to be able to be in a position to inspire and to help.
Follow your passion. It will lead to your purpose. O Winfrey.
